Introduction Edited text Manuscripts Cymraeg

Buchedd Luc

edited by Alaw Mai Edwards

Manuscripts

The only surviving Welsh version of this Life is in Llst 34. The text belongs to a large collection of saints’ Lives in Llst 34 written in the hand of Roger Morris, c.1580 x 1600 (see RepWM 00). There is no mention of the Life in RWM, probably because it is so short and was therefore missed by the editor. However, it is considered to be the complete text of the Welsh version of the Life of Luke (see Introduction) and its location within the manuscript suggests that it belongs to a small collection of lives of the apostles and evangelists (it is preceded by Buchedd Simon a Jwd Apostolion and followed by Buchedd Marc Efengyliwr).
