Introduction Edited text Manuscripts Cymraeg

Moliant i seintiau Brycheiniog

edited by Eurig Salisbury

Manuscripts

The only surviving copy of this poem was made in Pen 54, probably by the poet himself, Huw Cae Llwyd. This manuscript contains the earliest major collection of the poetry of the Cywyddwyr, most of which is associated with the south-east (particularly Brycheiniog) and was recorded c.1480 by the poets themselves, who include Dafydd Epynt, Ieuan Deulwyn and Hywel Swrdwal. Except for a few lines (see the textual notes), the text is in excellent condition.

Line order: 1–51, 51, 52–70.
